T.O./EAGLES SAGA
I think we need to DROP this subject. We've been talking about this for a few weeks now. We all know that T.O. is insubordinate, and he has proven to a pair of NFL teams that he is not a team player. When he is on the field, he is one of the top 3 receivers in the game today. (I dont care what anybody says, for my money, they dont get any better than Marvin Harrisson in that category. The guy blocks, runs great routes, he puts up great numbers every year, and he always keeps himself out of trouble. The third guy in this group is obviously Randy Moss. ) Back to T.O., I have a real problem with what he has done because he has thrown his teammates under the bus on more than one occasion. This is clearly not the guy you want on your squad, in a game that focuses on fellowship and chemistry more than any other major sport.
I do however feel a little bit of compassion for the guy. While listening to Colin Cowherd (for those of you who are still bitter that Kornheiser went off the air and this guy took his time slot, get over yourselves, and listen to this guy, he is hilarious, and he is OUTSTANDING) I learned that T.O. had a very rough up-bringing. As the story goes, T.O.'s mom was abused because his Grandma (who raised him) was an alcoholic. T.O.'s mom abaondoned him at a young age, and he met his father at age 12 when he became close friends with a girl across the street, who's father later told T.O. to stay away from her because she is his half sister. The odds are very good that this guy wore a wife beater with spaghetti stains on it just like every other dead beat Dad, that is if the story I heard was correct. Now if this is the case, then its a minor miracle that T.O. has turned out to be as successful as he's been. I cant imagine having to go through all of that as a young kid. And you thought Gary Coleman had it rough as a kid. As a kid, he basically had to 'wear it' every single day, now that he is grown up, he's tired of 'wearing it' and he's constantly on the lookout for good ol' number one, I cant really blame him for that.
The root of the problem goes back to his ridiculous demand for a new contract after he signed a new deal last year. If he had a year, or two years left on his deal, I would understand a little more, but one year into the deal is absolutely absurd. Whatever happened to living up to a contract? I understand he wants to get paid, but had he not played well during 2004, should the Eagles have gone back and re-negotiated with him and said, hey T.O., I know we signed a contract last year, but.....let's renegotiate. This problem stems from the hiring of Drew Rosenhaus, but Rosenhaus as an agent, is playing the role of Rino Riggins, Barry Horowitz and The Brooklyn Brawler (all of the non-wrestling fans are as lost as my man John Daly on the 15th Green without his heaters (aka cigs)), basically, Rosenhaus is jobbing, he's just doing the job, so I can't completely blame him either.
However, as I said at the beginning, its time to move on. Lets follow this mess when T.O. goes somewhere else at the end of the year. By the way, McNabb ending his press conference with "Next Question" was almost as great as \\//ADER's return to RAW last week. Thats all for tonight, I'm out.
